Like a Champion and Becoming One
Champions are born and
champions are made. One definition of a champion is someone who shows marked
superiority. Another definition is someone who is a winner of first prize or
first place in a competition. Champions think big. Champions are focused. Champions
are disciplined. Champions take responsibility. Champions want to achieve
something special. Champions want to win, they want to be the best. Not the
runner-up, but the best. These are mentioned by Mr. Donald J. Trump (recently
the president of the U.S.A.) in his book entitled “Think Like a Champion”. And
also said, "Golf is a brain game, which it is, but it is a demanding sport
technically and is a game of finesse. You cannot play golf halfheartedly and
expect to get anywhere with your game. You have to concentrate and you have to
have patience. We win in our daily lives by being careful with every day, by
having a champion’s view of each moment.” For I myself love to play golf, so I also
noticed Jack Nicklaus said that “golf is truly the greatest game of all”. And that
the strength, intelligence, an enormous capacity for hard work, and unswerving
adherence to sound fundamentals are the factors behind his fantastic successes
as a golfer. Moreover a simple definition of champion is someone who fights or
speaks publicly in support of a person, belief, cause, etc.
Champions rejoice! A champion
has ability to endure the training, to sacrifice and to have courage. Champions
keep hoping and joyfully exert themselves to go for the highest achievement. Truly,
as it is written in the Holy Bible, in Psalm 19:5: “..., like a champion rejoicing to run his course.” So champions rejoice!
We’ve to make sure that we have
a clear understanding of the situation. It’s important that we remember the
STARS model: (Start-up, Turnaround, Accelerated growth, Realignment, Sustaining
success), and then match strategy to situation. Increase your leverage by learning to think like a genius. There’s a wind philosophy saying
that “if you are not moving forward, you’re moving backward.” Don’t fail
because you think the responsibility might be too much, just focus and get
going! Stay in the game, in spite of pain and adversity. Don’t settle for good
enough, but stretching yourself out. Don’t let negative words keep you from
being who you were created to be. Do not underestimate yourself, and know that you are able to handle what comes your way. Stop criticizing yourself. Have a positive
thinking. Don’t say no at first. Take risk. Ask yourself “What if” questions.
What if it was a success? Be positive, but realistic. Let the positive
outdistance the negative. Sometimes you have to be tough to overcome the
obstacle. Be tough and keep your standard high, even if you have to fight the
undertow. Redeem your time. Pursue your dreams. “Be tough, be smart and be
personable, but don’t take things personally. That’s good business.(Think Like
a Champion - Mr. Trump)”
If you’re going to go to the
next level and to be a champion, you have to say so. Here are a few “Say So”s
(Joel Osteen – The Power of I Am). “I’ll accomplish my dreams. The right people
are in my future. Blessings are chasing me down. I will lend and not borrow. I
will overcome every obstacle. My legacy will live on to inspire future
generations. I run with purpose in every step. My best days are still out in
front of me. I will become everything I was created to be. I will have
everything God intended me to have. I am the redeemed of the Lord, and I say so
today.” Declare every day that your dreams are going to pass. And be a champion
of hope. “For in this
hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what
they already have? But if we hope for what we do not
yet have, we wait for it patiently.”(Romans 8:24-25)
Speak the “I AM”s over your
life: “I am victorious, prosperous, creative and wise. I am confident, forgiven
and free. I am patient, kind and generous. I am determined, focused and
disciplined. I am qualified, equipped and empower. I am healthy, well able and
a child of the most High God.” Put action behind your faith. God will finish
what He started. God is called the Author and Finisher of our faith.
Mr. Trump also recommended and
said, "It really is the best choice to go for the highest achievement
possible. Why set your goals too low? Did you ever hear children saying that
they want to be nothing when they grow up? They are full of dreams and plans, and
rarely are they mediocre aspirations. They want to be president, doctor,
scientists and so on. They’re on the right track and have the right mindset. If
you need to, bring yourself back to when you had high achievement as a goal.
Champions go the extra mile. Make an effort to exert yourself every day. You'd be
surprised at what intelligent effort can produce. Pay attention to these things
and you will be on your way to thinking like a champion and becoming one."
In
conclusion, I am grateful to the Lord for His blessings and encouragement with my
